PETE'S PATH

Pete Sousa is a play-by-play announcer for ESPN, covering college football, basketball, softball, and baseball since 2022. He hosts the daily Pete Sousa Show, serves as the studio host for Inside the 12 on the Big 12 Conference, and leads the show The Payoff with Pete: Stories of Sobriety. Raised near Villanova University where his mom worked in athletics, Pete discovered his voice early, mimicking legendary broadcasters in his living room. As a standout high school football player, he earned a scholarship to the University of Richmond but was sidelined by a heart condition. Richmond kept him on scholarship and involved with the football program, setting the stage for a life still centered around sports.
Before ESPN, Pete spent nearly a decade in NBA PR with the Hornets and Sixers, later calling NBA G-League games and hosting Hornets pregame shows. He transitioned to news, anchoring morning shows in Louisiana and Texas, all while returning to play-by-play for ESPN in the Big 12. Now, 13 years sober, Pete uses his platform to share his recovery journey and inspire others battling addiction.
